Nuevo forja virtual del Centro de Software Libre de C-LM

El Centro de Software Libre de Castilla-La Mancha ha publicado su nueva plataforma de desarrollo colaborativo de software [1] a través de una de las principales comunidades de Software Libre a nivel nacional e internacional como es Morfeo-Proyect.

El objetivo principal de la forja de software es fomentar la cooperación entre desarrolladores para la difusión de software y soporte al usuario.

Los dos primeros proyectos publicados son el Curso de MoLinux y Turismo Virtual. El primero, enfocado a compartir la documentación del curso online [2] desarrollado para promover la formación en la distribución GNU/Linux de la Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha. El segundo, un programa derivado de libregeosocial [3], de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, que pretende introducir las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en la promoción turística. Este proyecto de red social móvil con interfaz de realidad aumentada, será utilizado en la conmemoración del III Centenario de la Feria de Albacete [4].

Próximamente será publicados otros proyectos relacionados con el Área de Calidad del Centro de Software Libre, en referencia a las metodologías de calidad de aplicaciones y empresas de Software Libre.

Este servicio está enfocado a promover la Comunidad del Software Libre en Castilla-La Mancha de modo que los usuarios pueda acceder tanto al software como a la documentación que se genera con el desarrollo de las actividades y proyectos. Además, las empresas de la región que estén interesadas podrán alojar sus desarrollos bajo esta infraestructura colaborativa.

MoLinux es el sistema operativo promovido por la Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha con el objetivo de acercar a los ciudadanos de la región a la vanguardia de la sociedad de la información.

Metrópolis es un framework o conjunto de librerías de infraestructura que se utilizan como base para el desarrollo de aplicaciones de negocio utilizando Java como lenguaje de programación.

En general el propósito del framework es simplificar el desarrollo de un tipo concreto de componentes: “servicios de negocio”.

Como ya se publicó anteriormente en este blog, el 24 de mayo tuvo lugar en el Auditorio de Telefónica I+D la presentación de dos herramientas de empresas de la Comunidad Morfeo: por un lado, Osmius por parte de Peopleware; y por otro, Nuxeo por parte de Yerbabuena.

Updating Community blogs

As part of the Morfeo Community administration tasks, we are currently working to update some of the services offered by Morfeo.

Particularly, we have just started the process to update the WordPress release used in the Community blogs, modifying also the Morfeo template. During the following days you will see each Community blog is updated; each blog admin will be notified before performing any change.

CREA/FORMAN releases GNU/Linux training course in Morfeo

The Reference Center for the Excellence in Open Environment (CREA in its Spanish acronym), which is an initiative of FORMAN, consortium-school of the Employment Counsel of the Junta de Andalucia (Andalusia local government), becomes member of Morfeo Project releasing a GNU/Linux Administration course for moodle. This course is now part of the set of 15 courses currently available within the community. They can be found at http://aula.morfeo-project.org.

This initiative is part of the activities of Morfeo Formacion and CREA and it is looking for the definition of training network where all the material will be under open licenses. This will make easier their improvement and reuse, and even the definition of professional services of training.
This is a first strep but from now on both CREA and Morfeo Project will collaborate closely to foster synergies between them. More precisely it will foster similar action in other organization.

The Reference Center for the Excellence in Open Environment (CREA in its Spanish acronym), initiative of FORMAN, consortium-school of the Employment Counsel of the Junta de Andalucia (Andalusia local government), and it promotes the development of technological training material. It is working from 2009 fostering open knowledge for an open society. Their goals are:

To foster the open knowledge, in special in open source software technologies, within all sectors of population but more specifically in the educational sector.
To research training concerns of open source software, taking into account training needs, methodologies, etc.
To advice to companies, government and other organization about FLOSS.
To disseminate FLOSS and training about FLOSS.

The GNU/Linux Administration course will be released under Creative Commons By-SA and you can find it at Morfeo Formación website and at Morfeo Forge. It is about GNU/Linux system administration. It goals are:

User administration.
Task scripting.
Network management.
Security management.

The detailed TOC (150 hours) is:

GNU/Linux Introduction. Installation.
First steps. Shell usage and shell script development.
User and Access management.
Software management.
TCP/IP network: an introduction. Configuration.
Wireless networks in GNU/Linux.
Network server: implementation.
Security in GNU/Linux.
Logic security.
Firewall in GNU/Linux.

From now on, we will disseminate the course in the Technological Centers Network and in the Morfeo Project members.

We hope this initiative will be imitate for other organization and to get a huge quantity of training material very soon.

Morfeo Karma

Morfeo Karma gathers and presents the use statistics of each project hosted on Morfeo since 26th March 2009 until today.

The detailed activity of any project is seen at just a glimpse, its commits, download of new releases, total downloads, posts, new wikis, new documents, new releases, the number of mails sent and finally its Karma factor.

The Karma factor is a numeric value assigned to every project. It is based on a bunch of mathematical operations applied over the stat values.

The Karma factor of each project is calculated as follows.

A+B+C+B+D+E+F+G+H divided by 10, where each letter stands for:

A) Log(Posts)*40

B) (Log(Mails)^2)*110

C) (Log(Wikis)^2)*100

D) (Log(Downloads)^2)*100

E) (Log(Commits)^2)*150

F) Log(Releases)*10

G) Log(New Documents)*40

H) Based on the number of total downloads of all releases against the number of downloads of new releases, we apply the following. if the downloads of new releases amount to:

H.1) More than the 10% of the total downloads: (Log(TotalDownloads-Downloads)^2)*100

H.2) Less than 10%: (Log(DescargasTotales-Descargas)^2)*10

H.3) Same amount: Total of downloads are not taken into account at all.

H.4) If there are no downloads of new releases but the are a number of total downloads: (Log(TotalDownloads-Downloads)^2)*50

By the use of the logarithm the biggest amount of Karma is assigned to those projects whose stats represent a reasonable activity, avoiding assigning the highest Karma factor to the project whose activity is unusually high in any of the stats.

New project: Nuxeo Mobile

Este proyecto consiste en el desarrollo de clientes móviles para la gestión documental móvil con el gestor documental Nuxeo 5. Se desarrolla en distintas tecnologías y para distintos dispositivos como Android, iPhone, Windows Mobile, etc.
